Services
Tess may be contacted by email or by phonecall to request any of the following services: a comprehensive prenatal Breastfeeding and Infant Nutrition class for the expectant mother/father, a full-service lactation consultation in the comfort of your own home for mother/baby after baby has been born,  breast pump or infant scale rentals or sales, and infant weight gain monitoring. The in-home lactation consultations include an assessment of mother and baby's general wellness, assistance with latch difficulties, evaluation of milk transfer at breast, and management of other breastfeeding challenges. Lactation education and counseling are ongoing throughout the service, and a written care plan is often included. The primary goal is to adequately assess and identify any feeding-related problems in mother or baby, and to provide a reasonable plan of care designed to alleviate these problems in a timely manner. Some of the most important goals of care are optimal nutrition for the baby, adequate rest for the mother, and proper bonding of the entire family.  All products and services are delivered directly to your home, with no added delivery fees, within the Fresno/Clovis region. Tess also facilitates a free Breastfeeding Support Group. This encouraging and informative group generally meets monthly, and all moms are welcome, no matter how long they have breastfed. Current updates regarding the date, time, and location of these meetings are provided on the Facebook page entitled: Tess Johnson Lactation Services.

Service Rates
In-home Lactation Support after baby is born:
Tess's in-home consultation fees are based on time spent in service to the client. For an initial home visit consultation, which usually lasts 90 to 120 minutes, the fee is $110.00. If a follow up visit is needed, the price is reduced to $90, because these visits usually require less time. Any distance exceeding 15 miles from the business location of TJLS may incur an additional charge.  Phone-based support is free, if it follows a paid home visit. Additionally, there is no charge for the initial call wherein your appointment is scheduled. So, in review,
Mother/Baby Lactation Initial In-home consultation:  $110
Mother/Baby Lactation Follow up consultation: $90

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class to Prepare for a baby on the way:
Tess's comprehensive Breastfeeding Class, offered privately in the comfort of your home before the baby is born, is $75 per couple. Tess provides all materials necessary for the class, and will tailor the information to meet the individual needs of each family. The class usually lasts approximately 2 hours. Please call or email Tess to schedule a private class.

Monthly Mom to Mom Breastfeeding Support Group:
There is no charge for attending Tess's support group meetings. Bring your baby with you, and enjoy the warm, encouraging atmosphere while receiving support and information about breastfeeding.

All fees for services are requested at the time that services are rendered, and a reimbursement kit may be requested by the client to assist in obtaining insurance coverage for those fees paid. While there is no guarantee that lactation services rendered by an out-of-network provider will be reimbursed, it is recommended that clients do contact their insurance providers to inquire whether they are eligible for full or partial coverage.

Product Options
The breastfeeding product lines available through Tess's services are Hygeia, Spectra, and Medela. Hygeia pumps have become increasingly popular in recent years, and they offer a variety of closed-system pumps, which means they may be shared from one mother to another, as long as each person uses a fresh set of personal pieces. One of Tess's favorite aspects of the Hygeia company is that it strives to be mindful of the principles of ecology in its product line. Spectra pumps are relatively new on the market, and are also growing in popularity. They have a unique vibration or pulsing sensation that accompanies the suction mechanism, allowing some women to let down milk more easily than on standard pumps. The Medela company is a tried-and-true supplier of breastfeeding products, having been an icon in the field for decades. This company is continually on the front lines of innovation, and is often the first provider that comes to mind when people think of breastfeeding supplies. While direct breastfeeding is always the goal, there are times when a device such as a pump may be needed temporarily, and Tess chooses to offer the highest quality products.
